Requests
A request editor that stays out of the way
Every HTTP method, URL, headers, query parameters, and typed bodies — with a response viewer that formats JSON and HTML and shows status, timing, and size.
Röle is a local-first API client for Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, and iOS. Collections, environments, history, assertions, and runners live as plain JSON on disk — no cloud account, no telemetry.

No account required
Open the app and send a request. There is no sign-in, no workspace to provision, and no server between you and the endpoint.
No telemetry
The only outbound traffic is the requests you compose, the role-node server you optionally configure, and the update check you trigger.
Plain JSON on disk
Collections, environments, and history are files you can read, back up, and version with Git like any other project asset.
What's inside
Built for day-to-day work, not for a dashboard subscription. No feature behind a tier.
Requests
Every HTTP method, URL, headers, query parameters, and typed bodies — with a response viewer that formats JSON and HTML and shows status, timing, and size.
Tests
Declarative checks for status code, response time, body content, headers, and JSON paths. Results are visible per request and rolled up in the runner.
Organization
Group requests, switch between dev and production environments, and reuse values with {{variable}} substitution — no scripts required.
Automation
Run an entire collection sequentially with pass/fail history, or chain requests into flows that pass the previous response into the next call.
Migration
Import Postman v2.x collections and environments, or a Röle workspace bundle, with conflict handling when names collide.
Delivery
One Flutter codebase for Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, and iOS — with in-app updates on the Windows installer and Linux AppImage.

Local-first by design
Most clients start with an account and sync everything through a vendor cloud. Röle starts with files. Your requests are yours to read, diff, and back up — and the app works exactly the same with the network unplugged.
Optional team layer
Local-only is the right default. When a workspace outgrows one person, connect a self-hosted role-nodeserver for shared collections, environments, roles, and invitations. Signing out never touches local data, and using Röle alone never requires a server.

Questions
No. Röle works fully offline with no sign-in. Accounts exist only if you choose to connect a self-hosted role-node server for team workspaces.
In plain JSON files in your operating system's application-support directory. You can inspect them, back them up, or keep the folder in Git. Nothing leaves your device unless you connect a server or check for updates.
On Windows (installer) and Linux (AppImage), yes: the app downloads the release, verifies it against the published SHA-256 checksums, updates in place, and restarts. Store builds are updated by their store; macOS currently updates by downloading a new zip.
Yes. Import Postman v2.x collection and environment exports, or a Röle workspace bundle, and choose to skip, keep both, or overwrite on conflicts.
Yes — the client and the optional role-node backend are both open source under the MIT license.
